Cleaning up terraform repos with layers

Terraform is the most popular infrastructure-as-code framework. I wasn’t able to find a good source of information on Terraform’s market share. The closest source is a report from 6Sense that says Terraform has 37% of the market. This market share doesn’t include OpenTofu, which is a fork of Terraform. It also compares Terraform to Ansible (30%), which is a bit of a weird comparison. Anyway, Terraform has a majority of the IaC market. In most of the cloud projects you are currently working on, there will be Terraform one way or another.

Reasons to write in English

I started this blog a long time ago and of course, I started to write it in my native language. I did not even think I would work with colleagues, not from my country. As I more and more work with international companies I decided to switch my blog to a bilingual model. The plan is simple:

  • New articles would be published in both languages
  • Old articles written in Russian would stay as it is
  • Later I may translate some of them if they are not completely obsolete
  • To keep data accessible I create rewrite rules so Google (hopefully) will not downrate my SERP position

Not sure how it would work but let’s see.
